Frequently Asked Question
Open full size image in new tab
Last Updated 6 years ago
If an image has been put into the image manager, and you have it scaled down on the website, but you want to see it full sized when clicked, follow these instructions:
Put the picture into a content portlet and scale however you'd like.
Once there save the content portlet and go out of design mode to view it. Hover over the picture, right click, and select "Open image in a new tab"
Go to the picture in the new tab and copy the URL for the image in the top bar. You'll need this in a moment.
Go back into design mode and select the image you are working with. Once it's highlighted, click the hyperlink manager (globe with the chain icon).
Paste the link you copied from the full size image tab into the URL. You'll want to name the image in the link text, and in the tool tip, let the user know that the full size image will open in a new tab. (I would recommend they open in a new tab so they don't get stuck on an image page without a menu or way to get back easily).
Publish your content portlet, and now when you click on the image, you'll be prompted to view it in a new tab. (If you don't want it to prompt, you'll need to tell it to open in the same window which is okay because it's still our site, but just know there aren't any navigation tools once they get to the image).
