Gimp is a free photo editing program available in Software Center.

Save an icon image off of Google that does not contain text and has white background to a location easy for you to find

Open Gimp, and go to File>Open...> and select the image you just saved

Layer>Transparency>Color to Alpha which removed the white background and made it see through.

Image>Scale Image> enter 40x40 pixels, Scale

File> Export as, and save as a .png file to preserve the transparent background

Then upload the new icon image to the Website file share
